I’m sure I’m not the only who’s noticed that Jermaine Dupri has clearly been checking out my blog. Not only is he smoking on a Dee & Ricky Lego Cigarette broach, he’s holding an iPhone (3G no doubt), and wearing Cazal’s (probably real, but that could be disputed). So, I’d like to take this moment to thank you, Jermaine. Not just for the decades of supplying us with child rappers with braids (I still know all the words to Kris Kross’s Jump), but for taking the time to read and support Tecknicolor. I’m sure you’ve been spreading the news to all of your friends and while you’re at, it please tell Janet that I’m truly sorry for her loss…….

Also, after she’s gotten her spirits up (it may be a while), please let her know that we’re tired of scantly dressed, dirty lyrics Janet. We actually really miss Rhythm Nation, Pleasure Principle Janet, who’s style went so hard new female artists keep trying to recreate it, unsuccessfully (Ciara). I know imitation is the best form of flattery and everything, but please stop letting these girls massacre a style that you created and own the rights to.

I’m am somehow without words when I have to force my mind to accept the fact that Michael Jackson has passed away. As the first true international artist, there is so much that could be said. I could talk about him being one of, if not the greatest entertainers to ever live. I could say that he set the precedent for the music industry that, to this date, no one has been able to meet, let alone surpass. I could talk about the media frenzy that was a never ending, uninvited, invasion of his life and probably responsible for much more than we could ever know for the negative experiences and portrayals we’ve seen throughout out his life. There are so many angles and ways to approach the unsuccessful effort everyone will put for to summarize the life of Michael Jackson. Until this date many forget that he was merely a man with heart, mind, and soul just like you and I. This is the way God has always seen him and I can’t help just wonder how God would define the life and death of Michael Jackson. Here’s a song he once performed in honor of Princess Diana, “Gone Too Soon”.

A good friend of mine loves the new Nike Air Hoop Structure’s and I’m inclined to agree. We have all seen the case of hybrid’s gone bad and have even become to expect to the worst when we hear the word hybrid. However, every once in a blue moon, Nike shoes us just how hybrids should be done, like with the Hoop Structures. They are the basketball version of the Nike Air Structure Triax ‘91. The uppers of the shoe pay homage to the Jordan 6′s and this color way in particular (my favorite to date) to the Olympic 6′s, which are a part of the fall 09 collection. Did you really want a pair, but just couldn’t cop a pair of Yeezy’s? Maybe you couldn’t afford the steep $215 price tag or the grotesque resale price of $500.
I have news for you……..you still can’t get them without $500.
However, you can get shoes that look pretty darn similar. As you would’ve expected Nike, as well as the rest of the sneaker companies, love making money. They quickly realized that they were on to something when people were willing to spend $215 on something other than vintage sneakers or Retro Jordan’s. So, they have begun, what you can be sure will become a trend you will come to hate before the year is out, of releasing shoes that are structured similarly to the Yeezy’s (I honestly don’t like saying that word).

Reebok has taken it back to the basics by releasing the Ex-O-Fit Hi’s; a shoe that was originally released 1987, with an added strap (since that’s what the young people want now days). These are the latest Summer 09 color ways: pink and deep purple. They go for $89.
So you have a number of reasons not to stress about missing out on the Yeezy’s:
The aforementioned shoes (reasons 1 & 2) and the fact that this won’t be the last you’ll see of the Yeezy’s. They’ll be back and they’ll be over done (reason 3).

I love it when Canadians have soul! My friend put me up on this new artist and I’ve been listening to songs by Melanie Fiona for a few months now, via you tube. She just recently released the official video for “Give it to me Right” which is what I assume to be the first single off of her upcoming album “The Bridge”. The album was due to be released this spring but has been pushed back and should be out this summer. I really like this single because it puts a new spin on a sample (Time of the Season – The Zombies) that is totally overused in the motion picture industry, but has really never been heard, to my knowledge, in the r&b-ish (I hate categorizing music) realm of the music industry. Besides this being a good song, she can really sing; which we can all appreciate since that isn’t something that is a requirement for the industry.
Is it me or could President Obama change the economy off of the mass amounts of merchandise inspired by him alone? I could have this go on for days but we’ll just focus on sneakers for now.
I like how Ben found some positivity in the Obama merchandise craze.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge Supra fan, especially the Skytops and now the TK Society’s. This is the preview to the Skytop II’s, direct from the Supra blog. They debut at Agenda Huntington Beach this July, but won’t be released until Spring 2010. 2010!!!! What are they trying to do to me?
