varsity-jackets-trend

With fall fast approaching there are few things that immediately come to mind: Leaves (Michigan has the greatest fall scenery ever), Thanksgiving, calf length boots, and VARSITY JACKETS. I have been a fan of varsity jackets since I was little. I had this dope suede, navy blue and brown varsity jacket that I absolutely loved and my cousin used to always want to wear. It wasn’t heavy enough for Michigan winters, but I wanted to wear it anyway. I’m pretty sure I have had some form of a varsity jacket for every single phase of my life. Ironically, I only attended private schools that didn’t offer varsity jackets, among other things, so I never had an “authentic” high school jacket. Perhaps, that is what has continued to fueled my obsession with varsity jackets. I still have my old Ecko Red jacket that I bought back in high school. I don’t wear it too often because people think I’m 16 when I do.

One of my favorite jackets is by The Loots. I thought the design was very well executed and if I could’ve found one that would fit me, I would’ve definately bought it. I love that it has striped sleeves and that it has a hood, which is usually found only on womens jackets. I believe it’s called a sailor collared hood.

I have been wanting this jacket for quite a few years now. The Axel Foley, 1967 Detroit Lions varsity jacket from Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3. I regularly check Ebay for it, to no avail.

Note: There’s a new Beverly Hills Cop (part 4) coming out in 2012. I’m quite interested in what this is going to turn out like. I also want to see if Eddie Murphy will be wearing my jacket. They should make the jacket the whole focal point of the movie
