It’s amazing how even when you’re not in the mood to blog or even tweet an awesome product can get you so excited you can’t help it…. This is exactly what the new 3M snap back by Dope Couture has done for me tonight. If you’ve ever been around a sneaker lover long enough you’d definitely find out that they LOVE 3M reflective material. There’s just something about having something on that literally lights up when caught it certain lights. The whole concept behind reflective materials is to bring notice to that person or thing it’s on so that they stand out in the dark.. That is exactly why you can’t help but stare when you see someones feet light up as they walk by. This new cap by Dope gives new meaning to the term headlight and I already know what the Facebook and Twitter pics are going to look like (flashlights on your head). So, Dope Couture does it again. They seem to have a knack to discovering that thing that has always been there and putting just the right emphasis, in just right way, so that they’re product is, not only familiar, but also stand out all at the same time (genius). Don’t miss this cap! There are only going to be 50 available (wait a min…who’s your supplier? I need that kind of deal), releasing September 9th at 12m both online and in-store for $50.
Well, it’s been a minute since my last post. My grandfather passed away on the 16th of February and it was a lot to deal with. I wasn’t in the blogging, tweeting, MySpace, or Facebook mood. After several attempts, I have just gotten back some of the motivation to continue on with my projects and plans. There will be a post on my grandfather later….and on to the post…..
I have picked up a few items over the course of the past month or so. I’m going start out with the Space Jam related items….such as these Fully Laced, royal blue laces from Karmaloop. I love the way they pop out from the black. They are noticeably bigger than the average pair of round laces, but I suppose that doesn’t really matter.
Although the Space Jam design was originally supposed to be just for me, I obviously decided to share the idea with others. After this was done I felt that I needed a shirt with my own personal touch. So, I flipped the colors to have my one of a kind shirt to wear with my shoes. I think this colorway allows the shoes to stand out more.
I went on the search for a top to compliment the Space Jams. I knew I could just do the Astronaut Bull tee, but #1, I don’t like average and #2 it’s winter time and just a tee won’t cut it. So to no surprise I found next to nothing, but then went into Forever21 as a last resort and found this American Apparel-ish striped hoodie. I admit, this was far from my first choice and it’s also a little big, however It was fairly cheap and matches perfectly…. I would also like to add that Hi 5.0 had on a hoodie like this on ABDC.
It was purely by accident that I came across this American Living striped cardigan at JC Penney (a store in which I’m usually not a big fan of). I was only looking over in this section because I was waiting for someone, but ended up finding something a little more fashionable than the hoodie (although I’m still going to keep it). Besides being a perfect match, this further fuels my new found love for cardigans.
I may not have mentioned it yet, but my holy grails are the Jordan 11′s. I have them in almost every color released. I intend on owning every color and December 23rd I will be one step closer to that, completely unnecessary, but ever so wanted, dream. If you haven’t heard the Space Jam 11′s will be released this month after the date being changed twice (Nike is good for that). I have been preparing for this all year, and by preparing I mean talking a lot about it my very limited number of sneaker head friends. I really never thought I’d own a pair of the Space Jam’s because the story is that there were only 5 pair made. I’m not sure why they’re being referred to as retro’s when they’ve never really been formally released, but whatever, I love them.
Apparently I’m not the only one who is anticipating the Space Jam’s release. New Era released a complimentary fitted cap with a blue Bulls logo, that’s blowing steam through its nose, which reads “windy city”. The hat is made of the same ballistic nylon (the word nylon makes me think “cheap”) as the shoes, and features a patent leather bill with an oversized Bulls logo pattern printed on the underside. The inside is lined in blue satin (which makes your hair so silky smooth after wearing it for a while…..seriously) and the back has the word Chicago written in the same lettering as the number 23 on the back of the shoe.
As you can see in the pics, mine came in the mail today. It was the perfect ending to a week of studying, papers, finals, and lack of sleep.
I honor of my favorite shoe being released I have designed a graphic for them that will soon be printed, making myself the only Tecknicolor, custom-made, Space Jam T-shirt. It goes perfectly with my new hat. Pics will be up as soon as it’s finished, so stay tuned.

John Earl of Jonnhy Cupcakes recently posted up this pic of himself on Twitter. I don’t know who their by, but he bought them in Japan while lecturing at select schools. They’re a black frames with one side of the frame a circle and the other a sqaure. If you had told me about this idea before seeing it, I would’ve though they’d look totally goofy. However, becuase of the proportioning of the frames the two shapes seem to actually blend together some how.
Ok, so I’m a couple of months late on this, but I couldn’t not mention it. I’m so pleased to see two of my favorite things come together to make an odd, but great product. New Era and Vitamin Water!!!! Anyone who knows me, knows of my many unhealthy obsessions, which include Yankees fitted caps and Vitamin Water. To my disappointment, these hats aren’t going to be released to the general public, only to those who endorse Vitamin Water, like Lebron James.

I thought these were for the same line, but these are the prototypes for a collaboration with Secret Society. I’m not really feelings these as much.

Yes, it’s the classic, never goes out of style, tote. They’re perfect for throwing in all the crap you may or may not need (I actually carry dry erase markers). I personally have a very strange interest in all things that appear to look like bags or luggage. It’s a whole new world of style really. It’s totally makes me understand how Louis Vuitton was able to become what it is today off of just luggage. When you discover that you can set your entire style status with a suitcase, the world begins to make more sense. I’m so off topic, but I’m just saying, if you’re not into luggage, try it……..

Back to totes…… the great thing about them is that they’re unisex (generally speaking); guys can carry them and not look like they have a murse (man-purse). Of course, my preferred tote is by Ralph Lauren, but there are many other brands and styles you can go for. Another thing that makes totes an excellent choice is the fact that they come in basic and neutral colors that can be put with pretty much anything you own and still look decent.

They also come in various types of fabric to fit the style you’re wearing. There are high end leather, canvas, and khaki totes. There’s one for every occasion. If you check on my friends Jkissi and Trav of Street Etiquette, you’ll see it done right. It’s also done exquisitely over at BKc.

Supra has just released Skytop chains and key chains the. They come in different finishes; black gold and silver and are supposed to only be $25, which is an excellent deal. They’re available at most Supra dealers, like Factory 413. You should Follow them on Twitter too, they’re giving them away but it’s for today only, so don’t sleep.

I love Yankee’s caps. I’m not really a big baseball fan though. The last time I can remember consistently following the sport or a team was when Griffey played for the Mariners (the first time) and they won the division championship against the Yankee’s, ironically. I have been wearing the same Yankee’s hat for nine years and I just bought a new one. I’ve been threatening to buy one for a couple of years now, but when I go into a hat store it never seems to cross my mind. This isn’t to say that I haven’t bought other hats or other styles of Yankee’s hats; I have, but I’m not talking about any sort of Yankee’s hat. I’m referring to the classic navy blue with the white logo hat. You can’t go wrong with that hat. It’s unconsciously become my signature thing. I found this out when I was coming out of the store at school and this guy stopped me to ask me where my hat was. I honestly did have it with me, but I left it in the class when I went to get a pack of gum (my breath was on ten). He told me that he day dreams about me in my hat. I’m still unsure about the meaning of that statement but I accepted it and kept moving. If you haven’t noticed, this is a big milestone for me. I love my hat and have become quite attached to it. I didn’t really want a new one, but I was tired of people making fun of how filthy it was (is).

I often take my hat off or push it back on my head when I get hot and have been told by many to never show anyone the inside of my hat, ever. People have actually told me they’re embarrassed when they think someones seen the inside, lol. I obviously don’t care and show people the inside of my hat quite often (maybe they’ll feel bad and buy me a new one). So, although I know the posting of this pic would be strongly discouraged, here it is. I bet you can’t guess which ones the new one……I know it’s gross. Don’t judge me.

Look at how discolored my old hat is, it’s so sad.
Apparently New Era started making their hats one size bigger at some point within the nine years between these hats. I had to buy the new hat in a 7 1/8 and it fits exactly like the old hat, which is a 7 1/4……I’m not getting rid of my old hat, by the way, it’s my baby.

Interestingly, my favorite team from the 90′s (when I actually watched baseball) had my favorite player, who now plays for my favorite team in 2009. Alex Rodriguez.
If only.

While I’m at it, I may as well mention the fact that the Nike Griffey Air Max’s are one best pair of vintage Nike’s out there. I didn’t get a pair back in the day (mom was on some crazy stuff), but they are definitely on my list. I know they were retroed, but I can’t fit men’s shoes. So I have to hunt down a OG 1996 pair, which I actually would prefer anyway…..So take that Nike!
One last thing and I swear I’m finished…..What’s up with a A.Rod shoe deal Nike?
So, I found a pair of Ex-O-Fit Hi’s on sale on the Reebok site. Now usually, I’m a sensible person and I think all of my purchases through. However, I got really excited when I saw that they had went on sale and I literally had no other thought process except, ON SALE = BUY THEM. I didn’t even know they came in all white until I was checking on a pair after I posted about them (one you get things in your head, they start to grow on you). Since the whole White Project concept came out of the fact I absolutely love clean, all white kicks, it’s no surprise that I thought this all white colorway was absolutely fabulous and had to have them.
I also decided to include white accessories because, if your shoes are going to be white, you should have complimenting accessories. We all know that accessories can often make or break a fit right? So I bought the all white studded belt. I know this belt has become a little cliche these days, but for some reason I forget to buy belts, so I saw white and bought it. Maybe I’ll work on something a little more original and stylish later.

These are my $5, Forever 21, Ray Ban knock of shades. Dope right? I actually have trouble wearing them now. Someone once called them “Soulja Boy shades” and I haven’t been comfortable with them since. (Check out the worn out button on my keyboard).

Not an accessory, but who doesn’t need an all white Polo, by…well Polo (Ralph Lauren)? The “Create Your Own Collection” option didn’t exist when I bought mine, but I sure would’ve taken advantage if it had. That’s a navy blue tee underneath to match the pony. It’s always to good to compliment with out over crowding the white.
Next: The Watch (coming soon…..)

I’m not sure if this was Karl Lagerfeld’s version of fashion sarcasm or if this is an actual piece of the Chanel line. It was a part of the most black take on power suiting during Paris’s Fashion Week last March. This may be due the simple fact that it’s by Chanel (it would take me days to describe the impact of Chanel on my life), but I actually think it’s quite clever and would so carry it.
